The Remember the Removal Lesson Plans consist of ten lesson plans that, while focused on Cherokee Removal, provide additional content related to pre- and post removal Cherokee life. Content is organized (primarily) chronologically with details presented in lecture-discussion format along with resource materials to be used by students (reading assignments, videos, etc) outside of class. The lesson plans utilize and incorporate state and national standards which are indicated within each individual lesson. These lessons have been structured to fit within an hour time block but they could easily be modified to be shorter or, conversely, combined for an extended lesson. The intent is to provide teachers with a structure and content guide that has depth and detail when teaching about Cherokee Removal.
